Development and Industrialization of CH Hemi-Hydrate Wet-Process Phosphoric Acid Production Technology

Based on the characteristics of Guizhou's phosphate ore resources, Chanhen independently developed a hemi-hydrate wet phosphoric acid production process and achieved industrialization. In 2010, the first domestic 150 kt/a hemi-hydrate wet-process phosphoric acid plant using this technology was built. This technology has significant energy-saving, cost-reducing, and emission-reducing effects. Compared with traditional wet-process phosphoric acid, energy consumption is reduced by 0.18 tce/t P205, and the recovery and utilization rates of fluoride and iodine are improved. Raw material consumption and equipment investment are both better than traditional wet-process phosphoric acid. The hemi-hydrate wet-process phosphogypsum produced using this technology has better quality compared to traditional di-hydrate wet-process phosphogypsum, and also has self-coagulation properties and greater versatility. In June 2013, it passed the technological achievement appraisal of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, with the overall technology reaching an international advanced level. In February 2015, it won the second prize for technological progress in Guizhou Province. This technology has positive effects on energy conservation, emission reduction, and sustainable development in the phosphate chemical industry, and is of great significance for the transformation and upgrading of the industry.








Industrial Application of CH Hemi-Hydrate Wet-Process Phosphogypsum as a New Type of Self-Coagulating Material and Filling Material

Chanhen relied on its hemi-hydrate wet-process phosphoric acid production technology to modify and process the by-product hemi-hydrate wet-process phosphogypsum. After low-temperature drying to remove free water, "α type" hemi-hydrate wet-process gypsum powder can be obtained. Using this gypsum powder, combined with our self-developed patented technology, conventional additives, and mortar, a product that meets the standard of JC/T 1023-2021 "Gypsum-based self-leveling mortar" can be produced. This product has the advantages of good leveling, no hollowing, no cracking, and high construction efficiency, and is a new type of green building material that improves housing quality and comfort. Compared with similar technologies, this technology has the characteristics of a short process, simple production process, and high product cost-effectiveness. At the same time, it increases the utilization rate and adds value to phosphogypsum. In 2015, Chanhen cooperated with University of Science and Technology Beijing to use modified hemi-hydrate wet-process phosphogypsum as filling and self-coagulating material for solid waste in complete tailings and wet-process phosphogypsum. The result was the development of a low-cost and high-performance new type of solid waste filling material. Practice has shown that this technology has the advantages of simple process, low cost, high efficiency, and environmental friendliness. It can solve the two major problems of local phosphogypsum utilization and mining subsidence treatment, and has positive significance for the sustainable development of the phosphate chemical industry. Its potential for promotion and application is enormous. In October 2019, this technology passed the technical achievement appraisal of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, with its technical achievement reaching an international leading level. This technology has been successfully applied to the ecological restoration of Chanhen's open-pit mine and mine filling.

Self-Innovated Fertilizer Grade Ammonium Polyphosphate

The average utilization rate of traditional phosphorus fertilizer in wheat, corn, and rice, the three major grain crops, is only 24% during the season, which leads to a large input of phosphorus fertilizer in agriculture, yet low crop yields. Valuable non-renewable resources are consumed at a very low rate! To resolve this outstanding contradiction, our company with strong research and development capabilities based on internationally advanced hemi-hydrate wet phosphoric acid production technology, has self-innovated and developed two Fertilizer Grade Ammonium Polyphosphate products, 18-58-0 (with a polymerization rate not less than 60% and an average polymerization degree of 2-5) and 14-65-0 (with a polymerization rate not less than 95% and an average polymerization degree of 5-12). The APP 18-58-0 can be used to produce liquid APP 10-34-0 and 11-37-0, as well as water-soluble fertilizers and compound fertilizers. The APP 14-65-0 is mainly used to produce high-concentration compound fertilizers, blending fertilizers, and macronutrient water-soluble fertilizers. In addition to providing APP products with outstanding efficacy, we also offer farmers a series of good methods to use these products, promoting the integration of Fertilizer Grade Ammonium Polyphosphate into China's agricultural modernization process as soon as possible.



Self-Innovated Water Soluble Monoammonium Phosphate

Relying on a unique hemi-hydrate wet-process technology and the selective purification of phosphoric acid technology, our company produces Water Soluble Monoammonium Phosphate. This is a differentiated product specifically designed for drip irrigation facilities in agriculture and fully water soluble high-concentration compound fertilizers. The total nutrient content of this product reaches over 68% (10-58-0), with high phosphorus and low ammonia, making it easy for formula preparation. The insoluble water content of the G1 crucible is less than 0.2%, with no blockage in drip irrigation and no residue in high towers. The product has a long shelf life and can also satisfy customer's customization needs for heavy metals. Compared with 72% and 73% MAP, this product has significant advantages in drip irrigation, water soluble fertilizers, nitro-sulfur-based high towers compound fertilizers, and other high-end compound fertilizers.











Self-Innovated Acidic Calcium Phosphate for Saline-Alkali Soil Improvement

Phosphorus, Calcium, and Acid are the three major required elements for irrigation water improvement. The compatibility of phosphorus and calcium, while maintaining good water solubility, has long been a technical challenge for the fertilizer industry. Our company relies on internationally advanced hemi-hydrate wet-process phosphoric acid production technology and adopts unique phosphoric acid purification technology to successfully integrate the three major elements into one and develop the water-soluble acidic calcium phosphate product. This product does not contain nitrogen, leaving all nitrogen addition spaces to farmers, reducing fertilizer costs. With 55% available P2O5, our product is particularly suitable for the production of high-phosphorus water-soluble fertilizers. With 8% of soluble Ca2+, our product has significant effects on reducing soil alkalization, enhancing plant cell wall toughness, and preventing crop navel rot disease. The strong acidic function of the product has a powerful effect on lowering the pH value of irrigation water, and under normal fertilizer use, can control the pH value of the capillary outflow water to around 3.5. The product can be widely used for the production of macronutrient water soluble fertilizers, liquid fertilizers,suspension fertilizers, and as a direct drip irrigation, sowing, and flushing mixer with urea and potassium fertilizer (because this product is rich in calcium ions, it should not be mixed directly with a large amount of potassium sulfate).

Self-Innovated Firefighting Monoammonium Phosphate

Based on a unique semi-hydrate wet-process technology, our company produces Firefighting Monoammonium Phosphate. This specialized MAP is tailored for ABC dry powder fire extinguishers, and has outstanding technical advantages such as moderate main content, low moisture absorption, low moisture content, good pulverization performance, strong flowability, easy silicification, and stable quality. With a high cost-effectiveness, our product holds nearly 40% of the market share in China. Wet-process Purified Phosphoric Acid

The refinement of phosphoric acid is a bottleneck technology for the development of fine phosphorus chemical industry in China. Chanhen has researched the deep processing technology of wet-process phosphoric acid purification, improving the product level and reducing the production cost. It has independently developed the industrial-grade and food-grade phosphoric acid production technology from wet process phosphoric acid. This technology combines the pretreatment of wet-process phosphoric acid, organic solvent extraction purification, and deep purification processes, improving the extraction rate of fluorine, arsenic, sulfate ions, precipitates, and organic matter, as well as the solvent recovery and regeneration. It uses a self-designed extraction tower, and adopts a method of increasing the oxygen ion concentration and distribution coefficient of the extraction system in the extraction process to achieve high extraction efficiency of phosphoric acid and significantly improve the phosphorus yield.

Merchant Grade Phosphoric Acid

Chanhen's 52% concentration Merchant Grade Phosphoric Acid with pentoxide of phosphate content is produced by using its own high-quality phosphorus ore after deep flotation to obtain high-quality phosphorus concentrate as raw material, and using the independently developed hemi-hydrate wet-process phosphoric acid production technology. Through layers of quality control from the source, Chanhen ensures that various impurities in the product phosphoric acid are below the industry's leading level. Strict product quality control mechanisms have further enhanced the quality stability of Chanhen's commercial phosphoric acid. Chanhen's 52% concentration Merchant Grade Phosphoric Acid meets the demand of international and domestic customers for high-quality phosphoric acid products, which is beneficial to downstream products' production.



Feed Grade Monocalcium Phosphate Production Technology

Chanhen has independently developed a purification and production process for Feed Grade Monocalcium Phosphate using hemi-hydrate wet-process phosphoric acid. Relying on its hemi-hydrate wet-process phosphoric acid technology, Chanhen produces Feed Grade Monocalcium Phosphate, which is in the leading position in China. The production process of the company's Feed Grade Monocalcium Phosphate does not require phosphoric acid concentration and drying, or intermediate aging, and does not produce fertilizer grade Monocalcium Phosphate (white fertilizer) and mother liquor. The phosphorus recovery rate can reach more than 95%, the production efficiency is high, the product quality is good, the process is simple, the energy consumption is low, and the discharge of the three wastes is small. The product has uniform and stable indicators, high water-soluble phosphorus, small particle size, low heavy metal content, good dispersion, and strong anti-caking properties. The product is exported to more than 50 countries and regions worldwide and is well-received by customers.

Independent Innovation of Battery-Grade Anhydrous Iron Phosphate Technology

Chanhen has independently developed battery-grade anhydrous Iron Phosphate production technology, and all equipment used in the process is made of domestic materials and equipment. The technology is advanced, the system operation is stable, the design is reasonable, the level of automation is high, and the operation is reliable. It has independent intellectual property rights, and the overall technology is at international leading level.
The technology has strong adaptability to raw materials, producing high purity and uniform particle size iron phosphate products. The single series production capacity can reach 100 kt/a of anhydrous Iron Phosphate, and the scale effect is beneficial to reducing production costs. With its own phosphorite resources and hemi-hydrate wet-process phosphoric acid production technology, the phosphorus yield is high, and the production cost is lower compared to the hot process phosphoric acid technology. Through technological means, the intrinsic indicators of the product can be effectively controlled, and customized products can be provided to customers.

Independent Innovation of Anhydrous Hydrogen Fluoride Technology

Chanhen’s Anhydrous Hydrogen Fluoride production technology uses fluorosilicic acid, which is produced as a by-product of phosphorus chemical production, as raw material, and adopts concentrated sulfuric acid decomposition. It is a key technology for the comprehensive utilization of associated resources in phosphate mines, and the overall technology has reached the leading domestic level. The fluorine-containing wastewater and fluorosulfuric acid can be returned to the wet-process phosphoric acid production system for utilization. The independently developed fluorosilicic acid concentration technology greatly reduces the production of dilute sulfuric acid, and the effective utilization rate of fluorosilicic acid is high. Combined with the independently developed fluorosilicic acid concentration technology, the single ton cost of fluorosilicic acid-sulfuric acid process is much lower than that of the fluorspar-sulfuric acid process. The product index of fluorine gas is superior to the national standard (GB 7746-2011). It can be used to produce high-end fluorine chemical products and increase the value of fluorine element.
